BENTO-LOVE CONTEST!!!!!!! We are having a contest(May 18, 2013)! It is all about PINK!!!! little bit of pink to everything pink! No limitations on food choices, folks!!!! so if you feel you can't make a nice bento out of normal foods, you can make snack bento! just make sure to use pink somehow. NEW POSTOKAY IT IS MAY 18,2013~~~!!!  Contest begins today so I wish everyone good luck on making a PINK bento! I hope I will get quite a nice number of entries this time around.  Guys if you wish to help you can do so by spreading the word around about the contest!  I will repost the contest every weekend until the end of the contest.  Soooooo basically i'm going to spam you guys, sorry, but I want to update everyone about the contest and to let those who didn't read it before to give them a chance to read now and let them join should they decide! OH, to submit your entry please submit to the 'contest folder' and/or 'feature folder'  They will be in both folders anyway but just to be sure please drop me a line either on notes system or comments below to let me know you've submitted an entry!

OKAY so, I have the prizes ready and waiting for a winner here!  So without much further ado... read the contest info!

CONTEST INFO:  

★。・゜゜・。☆★。・゜゜・。☆Rules☆゜・。。・゜★☆゜・。。・゜★

:bulletpink:Must be a new deviation created specially by you!  No submitting of old/previously submitted works and no submitting works not created by YOU, the artist.
:bulletpink:Provide a link in the artist comments what you have chosen to feature!  (If Applicable!  You can use a wiki, google, yahoo, bing, etc link)  
:bulletpink:You must describe the contents of your bento within your artist comments and/or Deviation.  Just a brief description will do.
:bulletpink:Must use PINK. The entire bento can be pink or contain more or less pink but it MUST have pink.
:bulletpink:Try not to use ONLY cut out foods.  Try to use some other techniques like sculpting, molding, layering, wrapping, etc.
:bulletpink:Only Photography of your homemade bento.  (This club does not accept clay, jewelry, drawings, or other mediums.  It is photography or actual homemade food inside bento box.)
:bulletpink:Preferred if Bento box is used BUT if you do not own one you may use a rectangular Tupperware.  NO PLATES PLEASE~~
:bulletpink:Only one submission per entry.
:bulletpink:Must be a member to join the contest.

Judging will be done by me, *Corselia and will be based on craftsmanship, organization, attractiveness, effort, colors, thoughtfulness and more.    

Craftsmanship (how you create your work and the types of foods/materials you’ve used)
Organization (how you placed/arranged your bento.  If it looks Planned out or not)
Attractiveness (Is it neat and clean?  Does it look good enough to eat??)
Effort (Does it look like you put a lot of thought and effort in?)
Colors (Does it use the 5 main colors used for nutrition?  Black, What, Green, Red, Yellow) (Must contain PINK)
Thoughtfulness (Did something unique or found a organic solution.)

What is an "Evolving contest?"  It is where a set goal of participants is created.  If the number of participants reaches or exceeds this goal then the contest will "Evolve."  This Evolution means possible more prizes!  Either more winning places will be added to the contest; allowing more people a chance at winning prizes OR more prizes will be added to the already current winning places!  Sometimes the evolution is continuing!  Meaning the contest can evolve more then one time meaning more potential prizes!  However, not every contest will be an "Evolving" contest.  (It all depends on my funds, folks!  Everything is paid right out of my own pocket).  

ALSO!  Winners from previous contests will now be stated at the bottom of the contest page!  Those that have won Bento prizes before may not win Bento prizes again for one year!  (However you may still join contests and win OTHER prizes!)  This is to give other people a chance on winning bento boxes.  It wouldn’t be fair if you kept winning bento boxes all the time while someone else who doesn’t even own a bento never wins.  I will be keeping track of them on and off the site.  If you happen to have won a bento box before and have won a winning place again an alternate prize will be provided for you.  (Plus, I want the winners to sort of have a "WALL OF FAME" type deal... I guess in this case its a "WALL OF WON CONTEST!"

To Submit an Entry Please go into the gallery and click on the (+) on the CONTEST folder.  This folder will be open for submissions only during contests.  Only ONE submission per entry please.  The contest folder will remain open for submissions until the end of the contest.  Please do not submit any other deviations into this folder.  if you have more then one, choose the best and you may submit the rest within the feature gallery.

    ★。・゜゜・。☆What is Bentō (弁当 or べんとう?)☆゜・。。・゜★゜

    ‘O-bento’ basically means ‘boxed-meal.’ It is a portioned meal of either takeout or homemade food often found as a lunch type meal in Japanese cuisine! The bento box itself ranges in variety of size and color from having several stacks with internal dividers made of plastic, a single tray made of disposable materials, or in the more customary lacquer ware decorated with beautiful traditional motifs. They can come with a small bag or you can wrap it in a cloth with chopsticks! The whole idea of bento is to look attractive and artful… from the arrangement, presentation and garnishing to the coordinating color choice of the box, wrappers and utensils! The grand scheme is to look aesthetically pleasing to the viewer as well as provide a tasty meal!

    To join just click on the "Join group" Button located on the right of the Group's Title Bar. Joining is open to all fans and no approval is required.

    ★。・゜゜・。☆゜・。。・゜★゜How to Submit★。・゜゜・。☆゜・。。・゜★゜

    1. Go into the "Gallery" tab located at the top of the screen. Click on the appropriate folder you wish to submit into OR click on the (+) button located at the end of the Folder's Title bar. Then click on the "Submit to This Folder" and choose the deviation you wish to submit. Please Submit to the appropriate folders!!!

    ★。・゜゜・。☆゜・。。Submission Requirements。。☆゜・。。・゜★゜

    1. Must be a member to Submit deviations to the Group's folders. (For Suggested Features, an invitation will be sent to the original artist to join so that the suggested feature can be added. Otherwise it will appear in "Favorites")
    2. Submissions must be of Bento box, Bento Lunch and or Bento box accessories.
    3. Submissions must be made by the artist. Do not submit works from other artists, sites, etc. Must be genuine to the artist/submitter
    4. Please make sure there are no people, animals, faces, or other live beings... This is a bento food, bento box, bento accessories photo only.
    5. Please do not submit works that are drawn or contain any original characters, clay work, jewelry, plush, icon, etc. (Unless allowable by contest)
    6. Please keep it only photography of your personally made Bento Box & Accessories!
    7. Square/Rectangular Tupperware, bento-like containers, & clear cups are accepted. This is for members who do not yet own a actual Bento box.
    8. Please do not submit works containing PLATES with decorated foods (unless in Tutorials.)
    9. Please do not submit any works that slander or offend.

    ***IMPORTANT NOTE: Any works that are deleted will not be notified before hand. Basically just photos of bento food, Bento box and accessories only. Please do not write offensive comments nor leave spam links. Violators will be reported immediately. Thank you***

Your welcome! You don't have to worry about which folder to submit into because you can only submit your work into the "feature" folder. Your deviation will be featured there for a while until i go in and place it into the appropriate folders. It may be in one or more folders after it is moved but it will always show in the "all submissions" folder. When you submit your works please make sure to read the submition rules as there are some works that are not allowed in the gallery. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

Hi ^.^ I would like to know what I should do for my first time making a bento. Ive always wanted to make one but I never got the chance, but now I do! So now im not sure what to start with haha

for first timers i would suggest just starting with basic stuff like arrangement. Getting a feel for organizing and arranging your bento, using nutritious foods with the 5 colors (black, white, green, red, and yellow), making sure to separate certain foods to prevent spoilage. You want to have fun and just play around with making your first bento so it gives you an idea on how to start, what is easy/hard, what takes the most time and what doesn't, etc. a great one you can start off with is from "cookingwithdog" on youtube [link] ofcourse you can alter the ingredients to what you have but its a step by step tutorial on how to cook for bento! Just play around see what works! XD course if you want to start off making a kara-ben i would suggest looking up examples and trying to immitate it. you can browse the group's tutorials or any tutorial on DA if you are looking to make something specific! making bento for the first time will take a bit... for me it took a few hours because i was figuring out what worked but just have fun with it! see what you come up with! if you have any questions one how to do someting in particulare just drop a note and i'll see what i can do for you!

i have a question/problem, though. i can't submit to any folder other than "featured" (limit already exceeded) and "contest entries" (which is obv. the wrong folder). could it be that the others are full? if so, would you mind making new ones? thanks in advance! :glomp:

OOH, no, no, its not full. Members can only submit to the 'Featured" folder... or in the case of a contest they can only submit contests works to the contest folder. As for the other folders, what I do is once a deviation has been accepted into the feature folder it will stay there till it is booted out by newer deviations (I try to keep it 8 but this might change in the near future due to the fact that the group has been having an increase of submissions lately.) When ready, I will sort out which folder(s) i think that deviation fits best. I hope this helped answer your question?
